In 1984 Wiley Nunn, a retiree from Chrysler after 32 years, opened the famous Nunn’s Barbeque Restaurant. Mr. Nunn wanted to share his southern way of cooking barbeque and his unique sauce with Detroit. Alongside his son Al, he operated this restaurant and grew to become a the East Side’s Favorite BBQ spot.

On September 11, 2004 an unfortunate fire in the restaurant trapped Mr. Nunn and caused his death.

After 2 years of rebuilding, Al Nunn re-opened Nunn’s BBQ II in 2006 and carries on his fathers dream to offer-up really great tasting barbeque with his fathers original recipes.

Nunn’s Barbeque II offers a variety of incredible smoked meats, great tasting sides and homemade desserts.

The famous ribs cook on a 10ft charcoal grill before adding them to the smoker which, along with the wonderful special sauce, is the key to that famous taste. Other treats that you’ll find in that same smoker are rib tips, pulled pork, turkey ribs and rotisserie chicken.

Nunn’s also offers pigs feet, fish and delicious jumbo shrimp. Sides include mac and cheese, baked beans, black eyed peas, greens and yams. Be sure to finish the experience with one of the home made desserts which might include peach cobbler, banana pudding, sweet potato pie or pound cake.
